Khemenu is a Center for Wisdom with the intention to inspire global citizens by providing opportunities to learn, grow, expand, remember, and awaken in ways that nourish the mind, body, and spirit.
Inspired from ancient Khemetic (Egyptian) wisdom, this Center provides a foundation to allow for the exploration and comprehension of our purpose within the complexities of today’s world. While rooted in the alchemy of ancient Egypt, its offerings branch out to many wisdom traditions.
Khemenu is a Center for study without borders. We live in a global age with technology providing access between nearly every country in the world in a moment. Open hearted people from all nations, cultures, and faiths are invited to come together to explore how to be better humans so we can take care of each other and the Earth.
Although initiated by Zahra Indigo (see story below), Khemenu's impulse is organized with dynamic governance principals. This ensures that all operating bodies within the Center are transparently communicating and caring for the needs of the whole.
Khemenu Wisdom Center is inspired from an ancient center for learning that was once located in Egypt at a place of the same name. Later, the Greeks called the area Hermopolis and today, it is known as Al Ashmunin.
Khemenu was dedicated to the god of wisdom, Thoth, who manifests in the image of both the sacred ibis and the baboon. Khemenu was also connected to the Ogdoad, eight ancient elemental beings from pre-creation. It is said that Khemenu is the place where once upon a time, the "something" rose from the "nothing".
In its time, people from all around the known world would find their way to Khemenu to study the stars, to learn to scribe, and to harness the magic of numbers. There is now little left of this great center of learning except faint whispers of wisdom that continue to infuse and inform us.
As a member of Nicki Scully's Lineage of Thoth, Zahra Indigo was called to visit Thoth's ancient home, and in 2018, this opportunity came. While standing in a tomb at Khemenu, she caught one of those whispers; a whisper that told her, "That which was is to be again in a new way as it was before."
It became clear to Zahra Indigo that Khemenu was to be birthed from the past into the now to serve the unfolding future. Khemenu Wisdom Center is manifest from the recognition that a small whisper can become a strong breeze to carry the wisdom that this world needs at this time.
The neteru are the goddesses and gods of Egypt. Their archetypal and alchemical essence can guide the humanity of today as it did in ages long past. The ancient word Neteru over time became Netcher, the Coptic word for God. This then morphed into the modern word Nature.
These Neteru listed here have helped to shape Khemenu Wisdom Center. Although Khemenu is rooted and guided by Ancient Egypt, the wisdom it seeks, supports, and presents may come from many wisdom transitions, practices, and cultures.
